This is a photograph of a street party held around the time of the 1932 Leicester Historical Pageant. It was sent to the project by Christopher Martin, who writes that the photo "was taken in Warrington Street ... where my family owned a shop just out of sight to the right of the photo. I suspect the seating came from the pub which was on the corner a few doors down behind the photo. The Street is familiar to me as it remained unchanged until demolition in the 1960s. Your archive contains photos taken at public events but this shows that it was celebrated at community level as well."
