Summary
During the Scottish Exhibition of National History, Art and Industry, two short pageant plays were staged (Pageant of the Bruce in September and Thomas the Rhymer in October) A further play about Robert Burns (written by George Eyre-Todd) took place near the start of the exhibition; photos suggest there was also a river pageant (on the Kelvin). There was a pageant committee, and it is possible other short-lived tableaux were put on. The texts for the Bruce and Rhymer plays are widely available, but there is a surprising lack of documentary evidence for other activities. There is press in the Glasgow Herald.
