Coming soon in Carlisle!
We are almost into August, although you'd never guess this from the weather! However we are all hoping the sun will shine for the opening on the 22nd of the month of our new pageants exhibition at Tullie House Museum in Carlisle.
This exhibition will represent the culmination of more than a year’s work by the museum’s social history curator Edwin Rutherford and members of The Redress of the Past team; it will celebrate Carlisle’s three, large-scale pageants held in 1928, 1951 and 1977. The response we have had from Cumbrians who took part in the 1951 and 1977 pageants and who have clear memories of these events has been phenomenal. We hope the exhibition will spark more recollections among museum visitors. If you are in the north, do come visit!
